TORMENT

Around 84/85 Kevin Haynes (d) met former " Frenzy " Simon Brand (g/v). They wanted to start a new band and added a guy called Sean (b), because he could slap the fastest. The name "Torment" was taken from a record sleeve( the b-side of "Robot Riot" ) and the three boys hired a studio in Bristol. Sean was sacked after a gig and replaced by Simon Crowfoot-in between they tried Tony Biggs, now with the Rimshots.

After a first appearance on the Psychobilly compilation "Zorch Factor 1", Torment released an EP and their debut album " Psyclops Carnival " in 1986.The album featured a lot of Psychobilly anthems, including "Rockjet", "Death Trail " and "Psyclops Carnival " -recently covered by Mad Sin. After the big success with their vinyl releases Torment became crowd pullers on dozens of festivals.

Torment covered a huge spectrum with their very special sound and creative lyrics. They achieved cult status, especially after Simon Brand committed suicide in 1994. He had huge psychological problems, most of all because his wife cheated on him. Between 1986 and 1990 they released four albums, all on Nervous Records. Kevin Haynes also gained fame as a sleeve designer for Nervous Records.
